Item 1. 

TKUECE students should select courses according to the Course Selection Rules of Tamkang University and these regulations.

 

Item 2. 

Elective credits from the department's courses, offered by the VLSI & Computer chapter, Communication chapter, Control & System chapter, and the Continuing Education Bachelor's Program, are recognized as departmental elective credits.

    The common courses offered by the following faculty members of the department in the College of Engineering can be recognized as departmental elective credits:

      1. Introduction to Neural Networks
      2. Marine Technology and Environment
      3. Innovation and Entrepreneurship
      4. Practical Applications of Intelligent Business Operations
      5. Introduction to and Applications of Smart Living
      6. Exploration of Marine Technology
      7. Practical Applications in Emerging Marine Industries
      8. The World of Semiconductors

 

Item 3. 

Graduating students and those extending their studies may select courses across different programs, but they must electronically approve their course registration report during the add/drop period each semester.

 

Item 4. 

Day-time program undergraduate students in their first, second, and third years must enroll in at least 12 credits per semester. Fourth-year students must enroll in at least 9 credits per semester. Students extending their studies must enroll in at least one course, with a maximum of 25 credits per semester.

Continuing Education Bachelor's Program students must enroll in at least 10 credits per semester, with a maximum of 25 credits.

 

Item 5. 

Under the following circumstances, with approval, students may exceed the credit limit by up to 6 credits per semester:

      1. Students with a GPA of 80 or above (Grade A) in the previous semester.
      2. Students approved to take additional courses for a minor, double major, or program.
      3. Graduating students and those extending their studies.

 

Item 6. 

Students enrolling in required courses for the first time are not permitted to select courses across different groups.

Students who transfer between departments or institutions, and have special circumstances, may select courses across different groups with the approval of the department chair.

 

Item 7.

Third-year students may enroll in up to one graduate or doctoral course per semester.

Fourth-year students may enroll in any number of graduate or doctoral courses per semester.

Credits earned from the above courses will be recognized as elective credits.

 

Item 8.

To be eligible for summer courses, students must meet the following criteria: they must have failed their first attempt at the course, with a grade not being zero, and must not have withdrawn from the course before midterm.

Students extending their studies, graduating students, and those transferring between departments or institutions who do not meet the above criteria but have special circumstances may be permitted to take summer courses with the approval of the department chair.

 

Item 9.

Students retaking courses listed below can have them recognized as required credits for our department if they are offered by the College of Science or Engineering departments, and the course names and semester sequences match:

      1. Calculus: Semester Sequence 0; 3 credits.
      2. General Physics: Semester Sequences 1 and 2; 2 credits each.
      3. Engineering Mathematics: Semester Sequences 1 and 2; 3 credits each.
      4. Basic Engineering Mathematics: Semester Sequence 0; 3 credits.

For courses offered by other departments with different semester sequences than those required by our department, students must fill out the Tamkang University Student Substitution Course Application Form.

Except for the courses listed in Item 1, all other required courses must be taken within our department. However, special cases will be reviewed on an individual basis and are not subject to this restriction.

 

Item 10. 

Cross-program course selection is allowed only if the required courses are substituted with those that meet the criteria specified in the following table.

Item 11.

These regulations are effective from the academic year in which they are published, and the same applies to any amendments.
